Sunday school classes are offered at 10:00am during our traditional service and 11:30am during our contemporary service.

However, the first week of every month, children attend worship with their family. This allows the children to worship and experience communion and worship as a whole body of Christ.

The rest of the month, the children report straight to the Children’s Ministry Wing outside the Chapel.. Sunday school consists of an object lesson or hands on activity pertaining to the weeks Bible story and either a craft or game each week. Afterwards, parents can pick up their children in their respective classrooms. Grades 2-5 report to room 212 and Pre-K-1st will be in room 214. No child will be released until a parent arrives. If a parent would like a child to be released to an older sibling that must be communicated to the Director of Children’s Ministry ahead of time. Children’s classrooms can be found on the second floor of the church in the education wing outside the Chapel. In the event that there is a fifth Sunday, children attend worship and are released as usual and all go directly to room 212 where instead of a lesson they will complete some type of a mission project.

CHILDREN'S TIME DURING SANCTUARY WORSHIP SERVICE

An interaction time during our 10:00am Sanctuary service is for children and church pastors. The children are involved with age appropriate stories and lessons based on the scriptures, and the mission work of the church.

VIP (VERY INCLUDED PEOPLE) MINISTRY

At Rocky River UMC we work hard to make all children an integral part of our church. We do this by offering an inclusive Sunday school at both our 10:00am and 11:30am services. Whether your child has ADHD, Down Syndrome, or a Sensory Disorder we will work with you and your child to help make Rocky River UMC your home. We believe every child’s story should involve Christ. An in-house aide* is here on site to help, and each child is given a “buddy” to hang out with each week. We do everything in our power to make every child feel a part of our church family. The more we know about your child’s needs, the better we can help them find Christ in the midst of their story. Please contact the Director of Children’s Ministry, Quinn Bennett at qbennett@rrumc.org so that she can best support your child when you’re here. Please know we are sensitive to your family’s privacy and only those directly working with your child will be given any information.

*We also have aides provided for Vacation Bible School.
