From the Discipleship Committee

by Peggy Rowe, Discipleship Committee Chair

The Discipleship Committee, which is best known for facilitating the Advent & Lenten studies and Disciple studies, continues to work on the development of the Sunday morning “Koinonia: Faith & Fellowship” ministry.

Although there is still much to do before the pilot for this ministry is launched, much has been determined and developed.

So far, the committee has identified the leadership structur needed for the ministry, which will be teams of leaders. The areas of leadership include: discussion, prayer, fellowship, and administration. The roles and responsibilities for each of these leadership teams have been determined and the committee has even started identifying those within our congregation who have the skills, talents, and dedication to their faith to assume these leadership roles.

Currently, the committee is developing the pilot for “Koinonia: Faith & Fellowship.” There are still many questions that need to be answered but those answers will be the guiding light in this process. The next step will be to create the launch strategy for the ministry. The committee asks for your continued prayer support for this endeavor and that leadership will emerge. If you would like more information about the ministry or would be interested in serving in leadership, please contact Pastor Paul Bennett at PBennett@rrumc.org. He would love to fill you in on the exciting plans.

Many thanks to the leaders of our 2024 Advent study. Those who were our servant leaders were: Pat Wilson, Heather & Jason Lutz, Lynn Gorton (who led two studies!), Barb Reece, and Rev. Bogre. Our leaders not only give of themselves to lead each session during Advent, but they also give greatly of their time in preparing for each session. Their leadership is a gift to us all!

The 2025 Lenten Study will be “The Third Day” by Tom Berlin. The study begins March 9 with registration beginning February 16.
